So last year I wanted to make gingerbread wishing stars to have around at Christmas. I couldn't find the star cookie cutter kit anywhere and so settled for gingerbread wishing snowflakes. A week after Christmas last year I found the star cookie cutter kit at the Crate and Barrel outlet. So I bought them immediately and waited to patiently to build a tree out of cookies this year. I baked the cookies like two weeks ago and then kept avoiding the frosting. And by avoiding I mean kept waiting for Alicia to frost it because I suck at frosting. I made hot chocolate and let her go at it.
First I made custom marshmallows for the hot chocolate. Alicia gets a shout here for seeing me in the kitchen with a rolling pin smashing things and simply asking what I was doing. And when I responded making candy cane bits she simply said "ok"
They turned out so cute and were delicious in the hot chocolate.
With patience and me avoiding the frosting the tre was completed. This tree is not worth the effort. Seriously I won't be doing it again. It looks cute but is a bitch to frost.Glad I took lots of pictures because it is not happeing again. Then we watched LOTR Fellowship of the Ring. (We means Laura and Albert, Alicia has no need for Middle Earth)
Earlier in the day we had finally tried out DBGB. I was hoping they would have the new Autsrian trappist on tap and Alicia was hoping they would have some Cantillon. We both struck out. Luckily we could make lemonade from the lemons. I had De DolleDulle Teve 10 (Mad Bitch). It was a very enjoyable tripel.
Alicia had Oud Beersel Framboise. Only because I requested a sample and she made me yell down the bar to have the bartender stop pouring her Bernardus 12. What would she do without me? I have to say that we ordered the meat platter here and Alicia did not like it, I thought it was 3.5 stars out of 5. I have had many much better ones.
Later that week we were prepping for Hobbit night. We played Skip Bo and watched LOTR Two Towers. We had some nice beer from La Trappe.
Then we cracked open our Jalapeno Saison again. I really wanted to check it in on untapped so I made us finally name our home brewery. We are Penguinosaurus Rex Brewery. This beer got much better with age.
Then on 12-12-12 Alicia were still debating getting Westvleteren 12. We had it at the abbey Belgium and it was amazing.
And nothing can compare to our adventure of getting there and getting back. I mean who breaks Westvletern 12 when they get it. And then cries at another brewery and has it replaced by the brewmaster.
Our wallets were feeling all of our beer adventures and Christmas shopping. We already have a 12 still in the fridge from the abbey. Was it worth it? Ok, it was worth sharing a six pack. We both got in line. Here is Alicia.
So Alicia and I officially can't be left alone to make beer decisions. About 10 seconds before the store I turned to her and said I think its a waste that we both stood in line and might only get one. We can find a way (she commented that starving ourselves by not eating was not an option) This is what is sitting in our apartment.
Hi my name is Laura and I am incapable of budgeting when it comes to beer. Compeletely and totally incapable. I have spent Friday and Saturday in because I spent this on beer (luckily I have beer at home). Next weekend California for Christmas and I am letting myself into a beer store. Good bye any and all Christmas money.
