Thanksgiving weekend

I had an amazing and relaxing Thanksgiving weekend. For the record I don't like turkey or any Thanksgiving food particularly so I didn't eat any of it. This was my holiday prep, Mad Elf. The wine is in the cart because I had to cook something with it.

Tuesday I had what I consider my holiday family time. I had an amazing lunch with my Uncle Dennis, we good food and a great chat. I also had a rather tasty Ommegang Witte. Wednesday Alicia and I were going to go to Atlantic City to avoid people that like Thanksgiving. Instead we opted for staying local. We went out Wednesday to buy pajamas for each other. We exchange them on Thanksgiving so we can wear them the whole Christmas season. We shop for them on Wednesday so we get them half off. We then went to see Argo. It's awesome, see it. Then we got to the actual Thanksgiving day. We watched the parade on the couch while we had a nice breakfast of bacon and eggs. Then we sat some more. Then we had sandwiches for lunch and I had my first Mad Elf of the day while partaking in some facetime with the cutest niece ever.

Once we were sure the parade people had all left midtown we took the PATH in. We went to Beer Authority a beer bar I'm a fan of. Alicia got a Pumking with cinnamon on top. She felt so festive and in the holiday spirit.

I went with a nice Saison Dupont.

Alicia had a second Pumking and I had a Southern Tier Double IPA. Good times. We then went for our traditional Thanksgiving dinner, steaks. We went to Delmonicos this year. We will be trying something new next year. Then we went for a quick one at Rattle n Hum because we had to be on the PATH train by 10:00 (stupid Sandy). Alicia had another Pumking and I had a Hennepin. We went home and slept soundly knowing that Christmas started the next day. We cut down our own tree on Friday. Here was my contribution.

That's right standing in flip flops with the saw. Alicia was super woman cutting down the tree.

TIMBER!!!

Yes, she also wore flip flops. It was mid 50s we were taking advantage. So we carried the tree to the pay station. And they offered to net it and put it on the car so we let them.

Then they offered to tie it, we were okay with that.

Then we zipcared our way home all full of Christmas cheer. When we got home I did actually do my part. I got it in the stand and did the lights.

Alicia helped with the ornaments and put the star on.

And then it was our beautiful tree all gorgeous.

Saturday I got down to Christmas baking. Which really means I made the sugar cookies. Gingerbread and snickerdoodlees to come soon.

Sunday we went on an adventure walking through the city and it was awesome. We wanted the holiday weekend to never end, but sadly it did and I had to go back to work on Monday.
